Emma Kathryn Brock, 93, of Atkins, passed away Friday, March 17, 2023, at Atkins Nursing Center.
She was born October 8, 1929, to the late John Estel and Carrie Stout Welcher.
Emma was the beloved business owner and operator of Emma's Grocery and worked at Levi Strauss and Co. She was a cornerstone of our small town by leaving a legacy of honesty, hard work, and "kindness" in our community. She lovingly fed so many with her delicious food and much more so from her heart of generosity. She was a Bells Chapel Church of Christ member and the VFW Auxiliary. She was a loving sister, wife, mother, and grandmother and loved everyone she came in contact with. "Miss Emma" will be forever remembered. Unforgettably, her famous quote was, "Eat it or wear it."
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Noil Brock; daughter-in-law, Sandy Bowden; sisters and brothers, Verdell Goines, Ann Goodall, Shirley Hearne, Odell Welcher, William Welcher, and Ray Welcher; grandchildren, Tammy Boren and Timmy Bowden.
Loved ones to carry on her legacy are her children, Larry Bowden, Rick and Gail Welcher, Eric Brock, Sherry Reel, and Betty and Danny Reed; brother, Wilburn Welcher; sisters, Nina Haymes and Carolyn Scott; grandchildren, Tony and Kay Reel, Karen and Scott Hamm, Kellye and Brandon Oakley, Kendra and J.J. Ward, Stephanie and John Simko, John Welcher, Delaina and Mark Bomhoff, Telly and Timmy Harris, and Davyn Bowden; great-grandchildren, Miranda Crabtree, Chey Reel, Ayla Hickman, Brandon Colburn, Crystal Jones, Holly Boren Carlie Bisbee, Lance Byrum, Austin Hamm, Jake Simko, Alicia Bomhoff, and Aithyn Langley.
Visitation was held Monday, March 20, at Lemley Chapel.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 21, at Lemley Chapel, with Robert Hearne and John Phillips officiating. Burial will be held in Pisgah Cemetery under the direction of Lemley Funeral Service of Atkins.
Scott Hamm, Brandon Oakley, John Simko, Jamie Statler, Kenny Shannon, Tony Reel, Kenny Goodall, and John Marc Scott are Pallbearers.
Honorary pallbearers are Ronnie Watkins and Raymond Staggs.
In her memory, memorials may be made to Southern Christian Home, 100 W Harding St. Morrilton, AR 72110.
