Mabel Virginia Morris Poynter Rhodes got her wings on Sept. 22, 2021, and is soaring high as always. Mabel loved her family dearly, and she never met a stranger. She was loved by everyone who knew her.
She attended Arkansas Tech University and received a degree in Horticulture as was evident in her beautiful yard, flowers and plants. She had two green thumbs. She always kept chickens and named them all, and she always had a fur-baby by her side, or in her lap.
She loved playing pool with her sister Mac at the VFW, where she will be missed as well. Her quick wit, her loving heart, and her beautiful smile will be extremely missed by all. She was a very special lady.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Ollie Mae Cobb Morris and Dave Morris; her son, Charles James Poynter; and her siblings, Willis Ray Morris, Ollie Louvan Hollabaugh and Norman David Morris.
She is survived by her husband, Vernon (Whiskers) Rhodes; her son, Granvil Harry and Silvia Ann Poynter; and her sister, Verble Margaret Morris and Hurbie Hurtado; two grandchildren; four step-children; and four step-grand-children, 22 nieces and nephews; and numerous loving friends.
Private memorial will be held at a later date.

Aunt Mabel was one of the most loved people I have ever know. She was an earth angel among us all! Some people knew that and some maybe not, but I know she will always be there watching over us all! I am going to miss her very much because after all she raised me while my Mom Verble had to work and most people thought that I was her daughter and that was ok! My Mom Verble is the one that is going to miss her more than anyone else because they were inseparable the two of them! I’ve never seen any two people be as close as they were! So if you don’t mind send out a little prayer for my mom she is lost without Aunt Mabel! I know that my auntie is watching over her! So RIP Aunt Mabel you will be missed more than words can say! I will love you forever my beautiful Aunt Mabel!!!
