Madelyn (Meg) Hubbard, 99, of Russellville, died peacefully on Mother's Day, May 11, 2025. She was born December 5, 1925, in Jersey City, New Jersey, to Andrew Mulligan and Mary McLaughlin Mulligan.
She met Jack Hubbard of Colorado at Timberlane Ranch in New York, and they were married in 1950. Jack and Meg moved to Arkansas in 1956, with four young children, a small herd of Quarter Horses and began a dairy farm. They relocated to Russellville in 1967 where they established a small cattle business and finished raising their family of nine. She and Jack were members of the Arkansas Cattlemen's Association and Piedmontese Cattle Association.
Madelyn was a beloved and devoted wife, mother and grandmother, living her vocation to the fullest. She never gave up in the hardest of times and was a living example of her faith to many people. Her listening with compassion, her wisdom and guidance, and her prayers for everyone, were and are her legacy.
She was a dedicated member of St. John's Catholic Church for over five decades and involved in ministeries that included the Choir, Eucharistic, Cursillo, Altar Society, and Catholic Women's Union. In the end, the last line of an Irish poem describes her best: "Mostly she was Irish and in love with her God."
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jack, her son Mark, and her sisters, Joan Henne and Doris Powers.
She is survived by 5 sons: Kim Hubbard of Russellville, Todd (Alyce) Hubbard of Montrose, Colorado, Lee Hubbard of Russellville, Ross (Roberta) Hubbard of Buena Vista, Colorado, and Glen (Melissa) Hubbard of Russellville, three daughters, Gwen (Gary) Baker of Russellville, Jody (Rich) Parks of Mt. Dora, Florida and Jeannie (Tim) Smith of Dover, 18 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
