Sonja Rhea Brent, age 66, of Russellville, lost her battle with cancer on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, in her sleep at home with Gentiva Hospice Care.
She was born August 27, 1959, in Eustis, Florida to Daniel B. Lewis and Nina (Roberts) Keys.
Sonja's favorite title was grandmother. She was a wonderful, doting grandmother having a special place in her heart for all of her grandchildren, especially her youngest, Aurora, who became her greatest caregiver during her fight with cancer.
Sonja loved college football, a good book, and being curled up by the fireplace. She enjoyed road trips, especially when visiting unique architecture.
She was preceded in death by her father; and a granddaughter, Kaitlyn Schwartz.
Survivors include her loving husband of 30 years, Marion Brent; her mother; three sons and daughters-in-law, Michael Brent, Stephan and Brittany Schwartz and Dustin and Jordane Schwartz; three daughters and sons-in-law, Jennifer and David Wheeler, Alicia and Ollie McCallum and Whitley Sherman; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Danitta and David Johnson and Leshea and Randy Moody; numerous grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
The funeral service will be at 9 a.m., Monday, October 13, 2025, at the Shinn Chapel with the Rev. Larry Pettus officiating. The graveside service will be Monday at 3 p.m., at Walnut Hill Cemetery in Bradley under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service of Russellville.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the chapel.
