Terry Bewley, age 77 of Danville, passed away Monday, November 4, 2024, at his home. He was born December 11, 1946, in Martinez, California to the late Steve Copeland Bewley and Verna Lahoma Malone Bewley.
He is a 1964 graduate of Dardanelle High School but became a Little John fan as he supported his kids through all their school activities. He grew up working with his dad in the grocery business. Although he owned numerous businesses, he was best known as the owner of Sav-A-Sum Market in Danville for over 40 years. Terry was in the Army National Guard. In 1966, he was selected by the non-commissioned officers of his company as the "outstanding Young Soldier of the year". Terry was an avid tennis player, loved flying airplanes, collecting antique cars, and raising AQHA Quarter Horses. But when asked what the most important thing in life was, he said spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Janice Spears and twin granddaughters, Faith and Hope Crane.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Phyllis Bewley; two sons, Shane Bewley (Heather), Terry Wayne Bewley (Tina); two daughters, Nichole Crane (D.J.), Misty Bewley (Ryan); sister, Kay Beasley; two brothers-in-law, Ronnie Spears, Rick Hudson (Gayla); thirteen grandchildren, Haley Lynch (Zach), Luke Bewley, Chris Bewley, Trey Bewley, Caitlyn Laster, Caleb Laster, Josh Bewley (Nicole), Tyler Bewley, Hudson Crane, Gracie Crane, Jake Crane, Wyatt Crane, Maddix Rogers, Kaliyah Rogers, Phillip Rogers, six great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Saturday, November 9, 2024, from 2-4 p.m. at Cornwell Funeral Chapel in Danville.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the memorial fund set up in his name at Chambers Bank. Terry loved the Little John athletic program. His children and the many high school kids that worked for him at Sav-A-Sum were Little Johns. The funds will be utilized to improve the weight room for current and future Little Johns.
