Walter Watts, 75, of Atkins, died Thursday, Aug. 28, 2025, at his home with family at his bedside.
He was born Oct. 10, 1949, in West Ridge, Arkansas, to Calvin and Etta Dobbs Watts. A hardworking man with a deep devotion to family and country, Mr. Watts worked as an owner and operator and was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2283 and the National Rifle Association.
He worshiped with the Lake Hills Church and enjoyed fishing, hunting, NASCAR, small engine repair and following current events. Above all, Mr. Watts was proudest of his role as a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte Joyce Tate Watts; his parents; four brothers and a sister; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Survivors include his children, Jeff Watts and wife, Billie, of Benton, LaDonna Watts of Atkins, Shane Shackleford and wife, Jennifer, of Russellville, Greg Watts of Bryant, Stephanie Joiner and husband, Ronnie, of Paragould, Veronica Carter and husband, Percy, of Bismarck, and Sandra Lattin of Atkins; 20 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2025, at Humphrey Chapel, with the Rev. Josh Reynolds and Bishop Tony Reynolds officiating. Burial will be at 4 p.m. at Marked Tree Cemetery in Marked Tree, under the direction of Humphrey Funeral Service.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
