Anthony Kidawa Obituary

Anthony S Kidawa, DPM

AGE: 75 • Berlin

On Thursday, August 10, 2017. Anthony Stanley Kidawa, DPM, passed away. He was born in Philadelphia, PA and was a resident of Camden, Cherry Hill, Mount Laurel and Winslow Townships in New Jersey. During his St. Joseph High School years, Anthony attended summer courses in liturgical music at the Manhattanville College of the Sacred Heart in NY, served as church organist for four Catholic parishes in South Jersey, and was an instructor in piano and organ. Being bilingual, he was a teacher of citizenship lessons to Polish immigrants. After graduating from Villanova University, he returned to his high school alma mater where he taught biology for a year.

Following attainment of his professional doctoral degree as podiatrist, DPM, from the Pennsylvania College of Podiatric Medicine (PCPM), Anthony served a residency at St. Luke's and Children's Medical Center and subsequently returned to his podiatric alma mater which became the Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine where he served a 35-year career as tenured Professor and Departmental Chairman. During these years, he authored dozens of scientific articles, text book chapters, abstracts, compendia and manuals. He served as editor and consultant to legal firms and medical instrument manufacturers, as well as lectured at medical, osteopathic, podiatric and chiropractic conferences in 30 states and Europe on his specialty of peripheral vascular diseases.

Dr. Kidawa also conducted research under grants from pharmaceutical corporations and was the Founder and President of Clindialab, a mobile vascular testing laboratory serving podiatrists in Delaware, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. He had a part-time podiatric practice in Collingswood and at the Temple University Foot and Ankle Institute where he relieved countless patients' ailments and lifted their spirits with his sense of humor. Anthony held membership and elected officer positions in multiple podiatric medical societies, the PCPM Alumni Association and the National Podiatric Boards.

He was a recipient of several national awards and cited as a reputed member in several medical directory listings. His post-doctoral studies were secured at multiple medical conferences and colleges including Harvard University School of Medicine. He was a certified Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Orthopedics and Medicine, the Professional Wound Care Association, and the American Association of Hospital Podiatrists.

Anthony is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Nancy, their two children Lori and Kevin, his wife, Diane, grandchildren Elizabeth and Julianna, his late mortician brother, Ronald Kidawa's wife Barbara, as well as by his nieces and nephews. Visitation will be on Thursday, August 17, 2017 from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Charles Borromeo Church, 176 Stagecoach Road, Sicklerville, NJ. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery Mausoleum in Chews Landing, NJ.

RIP my old friend, I know you are with the Lord, and I´m happy for you.
I enjoyed working closely with you during those 20 years that we were involved in developing and marketing your new vascular diagnostic lab testing service, especially your mentoring while teaching me your vast knowledge in the specialty of peripheral vascular disease, diagnostic modalities and techniques necessary to make accurate and specific diagnosis and recommended treatment of acute vascular disease, while I worked in our early years together as I attained my credentials as a Registered Vascular Technologist. The sincerity and dedication I saw in you made it enjoyable and rather easy for me.
You were a very good friend, and I enjoyed every moment that I spent with you, both with work and when enjoying our leisure time together.
My thoughts and prayers are with your family.
God Bless You and all of those that you left behind.

I worked with tony on a 40 bed men's surgical ward in the early 60s at Temple U. I was a student nurse, he made the shifts enjoyable and was always willing to lend a hand. I am happy he had a great life and a close family. My deepest sympathy to family and friends, now he is with the angels.

Dr. Tony Kidawa, at any city's Medical Conference we would mutually attend, only needed to send out a greeting over my shoulder: "Hey, Bem-BEN-ek ! Jak Tsie Mas ! " ...and I was back home.

Pronunciation, fervor, chuckle...were all there.
And the conversation about family members, reviews and updates, would proceed for most of an hour, Quite a guy.

Dr. Kidawa was instrumental in my desiring to pursue a 40 year career in Podiatric Medicine and Surgery.

Dziekuje Pan Doctore Kidawa.

Nancy and Family,
I was so sorry to read this today. What a wonderful life Mr.Kidawa had! He was my biology teacher at SJHS for the one year he was there. I remember how smart he was! And I recall you, Nancy, from my childhood in Fairview. Our parents were friends and we spent time together back in the day. Please know you are in our thoughts and prayers.

Dr. Kidawa was very proud of his ability to say "Hello! How are you?" in so many different languages. He used his ability to listen to cross cultural boundaries and to make sense of the Doppler Ultrasound he listened to in the clinic. Maybe it was all music to his ears? Even though he was no longer in the classroom, he never stopped being a teacher. I hope I paid attention enough!

Although I did not know Anthony personally, I remember him fondly at church, and considered it a blessing that my son and I could help him rise from the pew to his walker on days when we attended mass together. He always had a smile on his face, was very appreciative of our help, and found a way to make us feel good. May his soul rest in peace. Our sympathies to Nancy and his family.
