Arthur Armitage Obituary

On August 3 2002 of Collingswood NJ. Age 81 years.
Beloved husband of A.Virginia (Rainey) Armitage. Also survived by: A Daughter Hillary A. Armitage (Donald Wilcox) of Willow Grove PA. A Son Stephen A. (Patricia) of Collingswood A Step-Daughter Karen Kline of Westmont 3 Grandchildren - Graham Jeffrey and Craig (Andrea) and a sister Virginia G. Armitage of Marlton NJ.
He was a 1938 graduate of Collingswood High School and 1942 graduate of Gettysburg College. He was also a World War II U.S. Navy veteran with the rank of Lieutenant. Mr. Armitage was the President and Owner of Armitage Insurance Agency Collingswood until his retirement. He served as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the West Jersey Health System and continued as a Trustee and Officer of the Virtua Ambulatory Board and also a Trustee of the West Jersey Health and Hospital Foundation.
He was a member of Parkside Lodge #217 F&A.M. Past Potentate of Crescent Shrine Burlington NJ past Officer and 33deg mason with Excelsior Scottish Rite Consistory W. Collingswood NJ. He was also a member and past President of the Collingswood Rotary Club and a Paul Harris Fellow recepient. Trustee and past President of Knight Park Collingswood. Member of Tatem-Shields Post #17 American Legion Collingswood. Served on boards of the Camden County Y.M.C.A. Goodwill Industries Boy Scouts of America and S.J. Port Corp. Member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church Collingswood and Tavistock Country Club.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Memorial Service on Wednesday 11:00AM at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church Park and Dill Avenue Collingswood NJ 08108. Interment Private. Friends may call Wednesday after 9:30AM at the Church.
The family requests in lieu of flowers contributions be made to the Church or the Shriner's Hospital for Children 3551 N. Broad St. Phila. PA 19140.
