Beverly Cockerham Obituary

Beverly Romaine (nee Guise) Cockerham

Ocean City - Beverly Romaine Cockerham (nee Guise) was my wife on October 3rd 1970 until March 8th 2021. She passed away with family by her side.

Born in York, Pa., she went to York Central until 1963. She spent her entire life of work for more than 40+ years at Neonatal units in Jefferson University, Our Lady of Lourdes in Camden and AtlantiCare Regional Hospital. She moved to Ocean City N.J. where spent her summers with husband and 2 children. She loved the beach and her time with her family.

She is survived by her husband Dave, her children- Holly Kisby (Doug) and Andy, and her granddaughter Dakota. Also surviving are two brothers, Barry Guise (Lynn) and Brian Guise (Cindy). She will be deeply missed by hospital coworkers, church companions, friends and family.

Her Funeral Service will be offered Friday, March 12th at 12 noon from First Presbyterian Church, 7th Street at Wesley Avenue, Ocean City, NJ where friends may call from 11 o'clock until the time of service. Burial will follow in Seaville Methodist Cemetery, 3100 Route 9, Seaville, NJ.

John & Betty Block,

March 17, 2021

To David and the Cockerham family,
We are saddened to learn of the passing of Beverly. We former Asbury Ave and 29th St OC beach regulars remember the beautiful Bev and the Cockerham family well from our many youthful and later summers spent in OC.
Bev is best remembered here as smiling, seated on the beach tending a little one while you as always, artfully managed to tend to the day’s offering in the surf. Standing, surf rod in hand, no matter the weather, no matter the scarcity of fish, hoping for a “keeper” when you knew you already had the finest “keeper” in OC. Now my dear Betty might offer light-hearted comment on that my “keeper” as Betty was also nearby tending to her own growing OC family. Like you, I too was fishing!
Dave, please kindly accept these humble condolences offered to you and your families on behalf of our families whom you may recall from shared OC years long past: the McIlvaine’s who started it all, the ”Mc’s” children- Dorrie, Janet (deceased), and Betty. These girls are now- the Ferretti’s, the Schoenfeld’s, and the Block’s.
The years and individual life choices have sent us each to different destinations, thus our paths never crossed. Fortunately we each have our own personal loads of OC and other memories to get us by tough movements as this.
Shared sympathy from all,
John & Betty Block,
Venice, FL

I loved working with Bev, she was sweet and kind, never flustered or short tempered. She spoke lovingly of her family and would and did do anything for them. She was one of the most unselfish persons I have ever met. The world is just a little bit colder without her. Thank you Bev. xx Kari Wames

So sad about Bev’s passing. So many good times at First Church for many years. Dave, Andy and Holly: Know that you will see her again. May God’s peace be with you through this time and for the future.
