I remember Bruce from the early '90s when he reenacted in Wisconsin as the 5th Wis. Battery. He always kept me laughing, and his knowledge of history and commitment to authenticity was impressive.

Peace, pard. And peace and comfort to your family.

December 11, 2010

Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Your love for each other was special, a one of a kind. Bruce will be missed.
If there is anything we can do, at any time, please let us know.

Bruce went to Pennsylvania in 1992 to be a background artist in the Civil War movie Gettysburg. He was generous enough to share his knowledge about cannons with a me, a novice reenactor while we were there. We continued to see each other at reenactments, even when Bruce became a Confederate reenactor.
My children Sean and Alison always looked forward to the Greenbush, WI reenactment where they could spend time with Bruce's son Mark. My wife Mary Lynn fondly remembers Bruce's gentlemanly deportment and wry smile. We are all four saddened at his death and send our condolences to his family and those who held Bruce close and dear. Dear Kim, my deepest regret you had to lose your love, your best friend and your partner. Know that Bruce loved you with all his heart. You were his reason for living, his true love and his heart belonged only to you. There is no disputing this as his life with you showed it every day and in every way with you.
Keep his love alive in you and his memory alive with all your friends and his. I share your broken heart.

Its hard to write words of a person that you have worked so long with. I remember when I first started at Lane Punch and Bruce was over the WI plant. If I needed to know something it was always "Call Bruce".

Kim, I can't even begin to imagine how your heart feels but at least God gave you and Bruce your vacation together to have as fond memories forever.

I can't be there for the memorial but I will think of all of you.

To Bruce's children your Father loved you. Thru out the years he would tell stories.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

I'm really sorry that Bruce has passed and it will definatley be different here at Lane. Bruce was a unique individual with lots of knowledge, and he will be missed by us all. I and Bruce didn't have a close relationship but always said good morning and he of course would give me a hard time about my hair. The last thing he said to me on Friday was my part wasn't straight and I of course said," Bruce it is suppose to be crooked" Then he proceeded to take a picture of it.
He also spoke of Mark & Kim alot and talked about what they were doing or what Kim had made. I want her to know that he truly loved her and spoke of her often and always kept us in the loop about their vacations. My prayers are with you Kim as I know you and him were soul mates. And Mark know that he loved you. I remember when he said to me, this is my son as he was showing me your picture. ..
I will never forget when he would tell me a story, I would say "really" from habit, and of course his words would ALWAYS be "Well Yeah".
I pray for Kim as she begins her new life without Bruce and pray that she finds the comfort that is needed.
