Charles J. Land

AGE: 85 • Vineland

Charles J. Land, 85, of Vineland, passed away on Monday, December 17, 2012 at the NJ Veterans Memorial Home. Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Charles and Bernadine Land. Prior to moving to Vineland in 2008, he was a resident of New Port Richey, Florida for 28 years. Before he retired, he was employed at the Philadelphia Ship Yard. Charles was a 20 year Veteran of the US Navy serving in the Pacific during World War II and the Korean War. Charles was a member of the Fleet Reserve while residing in Florida. He enjoyed attending yearly reunions for the US Hutchins, the ship he served on during WWII. Charles was a longtime Phillies fan and enjoyed talking baseball with his grandson.

He is survived by his grandson & wife, Joseph & Lynn Hoban of Vineland; daughter & son-in-law, Linda & John Boyle of Southampton, NJ; sister, Bernadette Glennon of Florida; granddaughter, Lisa Nagle; four great-grandchildren, Michael Hoban, Sean Nage, Leigha Nagle & Ryan Nagle; and 1 great-great grandchild and several nieces & nephews. Charles was predeceased by his wife, Louise Land and brothers, Frank & Edward Land.

A Church Visitation will be held on Saturday from 12:30pm to 1pm followed by a Memorial Mass at 1 pm from Christ The Good Shepherd Parish - Church of Saint Isidore The Farmer, 1655 Magnolia Road, Vineland. Final Disposition will be private at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the supervision of Rone Funeral Service, 1110 East Chestnut Avenue, Vineland, NJ 08360. Donations in memory of Charles can be made to: New Jersey Veteran's Memorial Home- (Recreation Fund), 524 North West Blvd., Vineland, NJ 08360.
