Charles Schuster Obituary

Charles and Donna Schuster

Cherry Hill - Charles "Chuck" William Schuster was born in 1946 in Hicksville, Long Island, NY to William Charles Schuster and Lillian Ann Schuster. His sister, Wendy Jane (Martin Wilson) followed him onto the scene a few years later. He attended Hicksville High School. Upon graduation, he joined the United States Marine Corps and served for four years, at one point serving in the Honor Guard at the White House. He married Marcie (Clark) shortly after leaving the Marines and they had a son, William "Billy" Michael Schuster. They eventually divorced.

Donna Lynn Schuster was born in 1947 in Albany, NY to Evan and Marjorie LaGrave. She was the big sister to Susan (Keith Klapp), Pam (Sal Scaringe) and Annette (Bill Nattress). She graduated from Colonie Central High School and from there went to Hudson Valley and then SUNY, Albany, eventually earning her Master's Degree in Business education at Rider College.

Their worlds collided when they met in the late 70's and they concluded that decade with the start of their 40-year marriage. They moved to south Jersey where Donna taught business courses and then became a supervisor at Hammonton High School. One of the things she loved was taking the seniors on their class trips to Disney. Chuck worked as a sales representative, most recently for A1 Limousine. They both loved to travel and spent many happy hours in the car with Chuck always taking "the scenic route" wherever they went.

Even though Chuck was battling health problems, he still took care of Donna to the best of his ability. Chuck passed away at home on September 22 while Donna was in a physical rehab facility recovering from a surgery. The news was devastating to Donna and after battling a number of subsequent infections, finally succumbed on November 12. Chuck was predeceased by his parents, his cherished grandmother Jane Lilling and his beloved son. He is survived by his grandson, Baily Schuster of Torrington, CT, his sister and brother-in-law of Dallas, OR along with a nephew and great niece. Donna was predeceased by her parents but is survived by her 3 sisters.

They were passionate about their fur babies and had a number of different cats over the years, one of whom they rescued from a drainage ditch near their property whom they appropriately named Norton. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in their memory to the Humane Society. A memorial service will be held via Zoom on November 28 from 2 - 4 p.m. Please email [email protected] for Zoom meeting information. Interment to follow at a later date at Saratoga National Cemetery.

Dear Chuck...my friend for 62 years...so many memories...so many good times...a lifetime of shared experiences....we grew up together...at times lived together and worked together. So many conversations and countless laughs. Gone way too soon. Never got to say good bye... I will miss you forever.

My condolences to the Schuster/Klapp/Scaringe/Nattress families for their dual loss. Very sad situation, however, it is evident they were a very happy and loving couple.
