Joan, Jim and Extended Families:

Two words that immediately come to mind when I remember Dorothy are "simple" and "joyful".

Our last visit with Dorothy was one filled with her talking about the joy of her life - her family. We talked of those joys - memories shared of those gone before her and the joys of the young children in the family - our future.

Having lost all of my own father's six sisters at a very young age, I cherished the Barna women as surrogate Aunts. They were the only "Aunts" I had for most of our marriage. Our children enjoyed their Barrington visits with the Barna women (and of course, with Norman).

Dorothy lived such a peaceful life. There is something to be said about that. Joy is simple. Dorothy knew the formula for achieving that joy -the family.

As I reflect back on my weekend visiting the Holy Father at Independence Mall, He reminded us all how important family is. Dorothy knew that was the only joy she would ever need to live a blessed life.

Let's pray that we all find that joy in our own lives as we celebrate the life of a woman who knew simple joy.

Fondly Remembering The Simple Joy of Dorothy,

Peace.
