Jersey City, NJ - Mariam I. Ayad, birth mother of Martino Ayad Cartier, went home to be with the Lord on May 20, 2021. A resident of Jersey City, NJ. She was 75.

Mariam was born in Cairo, Egypt before coming to the United States and settling in Jersey City. At an early age, Mariam was forced to give away her newborn son but she never gave up hope that one day they would be together again. A brave and courageous woman, Mariam waited for over 30 years to find her son, grandson, and Joann, to begin a life with them. She was selfless and helped everyone she came into contact with. Mariam was most proud of her son, Martino, grandson, Brigade, sister, Joann, and the relationships they were able to build over the years. She was a gifted seamstress and she enjoyed spending time with her family.

Beloved birth mother of Martino Ayad Cartier. Loving grandmother of Brigade Cartier. Treasured sister of Joann Maguire. Dear aunt of Mary Farag, Mirette Hanna, Miranda Abdel Nour, Mohab Alexander, and Father Morcos Elmoharaky.

Relatives and Friends are invited to attend her viewing on Saturday, May 29th from 9:00 - 11:00 AM at the Gloucester County Community Church, 359 Chapel Heights Rd, Washington Township, NJ 08080, where a service will be held at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Sewell, NJ.
