Mary W. Parker

AGE: 91 • Formerly of Haddonfield & Cherry Hill

(nee Webster) On July 3, 2013, age 91. "Molly" as friends and family knew her was born in Camden, NJ, to parents E. Kessler Webster and Mary Porter Webster. Her family moved to Haddonfield shortly thereafter and later to Haddon Heights. She was educated at Haddonfield and Moorestown Friends' Schools. Elected to Phi Beta Kappa in 1942, she graduated from Duke University, Durham, NC, Magna Cum Laude in 1943. She married Joseph R. Parker in 1948 and moved with him and their children to New Mexico in 1963, returning to Cherry Hill in 1999. In 2009, the couple moved to Evanston, IL to be near her daughter and family.

A lifelong Presbyterian, Molly served as an active member of Presbyterian Women, taught Sunday School for over forty years, sang in the church choir, and became a church elder in New Mexico and New Jersey. She was a life-member of the American Association of University Women, and she actively served on local, state, and national AAUW committees. Molly was a faithful and generous supporter of many environmental and humanitarian organizations throughout her long life. She enjoyed travel, visiting over twenty foreign countries and many of our national parks and monuments.

Pre-deceased by her daughter Mary Stuart Parker in 1990, brothers E.K. Webster of Hellertown, PA, and Theodore L. Webster of Haddonfield, NJ, she is survived by her husband Joseph R. Parker; her sister Elizabeth W. Bolster of Richmond, VA; her daughter Kate and husband John Schneider of Evanston, IL; her son John and wife Laurie of Santa Fe, NM; her son Eric of Albuquerque, NM; and four granddaughters.

A Memorial Service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of Haddonfield, 20 E. Kings Hwy., Haddonfield, NJ 08033, on July 13th at 11 am. Contributions may be made in her memory to the Church or to the ChildFund International, 2821 Emerywood Parkway, Richmond, VA, 23294.

I still think of dear Molly and Joe so often and continue to miss them. Larry, David and I treasure our many memories of the wonderful times spent with both of them!

Molly was an amazing lady, I always thought of her as a Saint. We missed them both when they moved from White Rock, but were so glad she could finally go Home to New Jersey liked she always wanted. She can lay down her cares now in the heavenly arms of God.

Dearest Joe, Kate, Erik and John,
I am heartbroken to hear of Molly's passing. Not only was Molly a treasured and beloved friend to me when the Parkers, my husband and I were living in New Mexico and were all members of White Rock Presbyterian Church in Los Alamos. She was also like a second mother to me. Since for many of those years, her daughters Mary and Kate (Katie) and my own mother were living out of town, Molly and I would attend the church's annual Mother-Daughter luncheon together. Both Molly and I were also members of the Los Alamos branch of AAUW. Come to think of it,she was the one who encouraged me to join AAUW! She was also my son David's Sunday School teacher when he was three or four, and he so liked and respected her that if "Mrs. Parker" said something, He knew it must be true. (So did I!) Also,Joe and I were deacons together for several years at WPC. Since my last name is Cloutman, Joe always called me "the lady with clout"! I also knew all four children and remember how excited Molly was when she heard the news that Kate was expecting her first child. I know she loved each of her grandchildren very much.
My husband Larry, our son David, now inn his late 30s, and I moved away from New Mexico in June 1986 but never forgot - and never will forget - Molly and Joe. I spoke to Joe last in June 2007 when the two of them were still in Molly's beloved N.J. (Molly was out buying corn that day with Katie's husband, as I remember Joe telling me.)I then wrote them both a LONG overdue letter and sent photos that same month. I last heard from Molly at Christmas 2007 and know that she fought chronic cancer and that Joe has been dealing with Parkinson's in recent years. Mutual friends from WPC told me that Joe is now in a skilled nursing at the place where she and Joe lived in Evanston. I will miss my beloved Molly ALWAYS and continue to keep Joe in our prayers.
Katie, Eric and John, please know you and your children are all in our prayers as you grieve the loss of your wonderful mother!

So sorry to hear about Molly. She was a great lady! What impressed me most about her was her cheerful nature, and her energetic strength. I remember her saying, about how she managed to raise four children, "Well, one takes up all your time, so four can't take any more!"
I'm sure the Lord will send you many comforts in your time of mourning.
