Born 10/14/28 in Woodbury NJ. Son of Norman W. and Katherine raised in Somers Point attended Somers Point Public School & graduated from Atlantic City Boys Vocational School Class of 1946 after completing the course in Auto Mechanics with Honors & a Life Member of the Willing-boro Volunteer Fire Company. And Heaven needing a Fire Chief called Norm Home on April 12 2008.Survived by his loving wife Barbara (DiRocco Venella) mother Katherine Gursky Moorestown NJ Sons Charles & daughter-in-law Janet Charlottesville VA Michael of Kokomo IN & Andrew Magnolia NJ step-daughter Donna & son-in-law Gregory Willis Collingswood NJ step-son Ronald D. Venella Jr. Gloucester NJ & step daughter Debra Majors Chapman KS. Also survived by 11 grandchildren & 5 great grandchildren. Prede-ceased by father Norman W. Cheeseman & step- father Captain Allen M. Tallman.
Norman retired from Holman Ford after 37 years of service as an Auto Technician from Mt. Laurel NJ. As Norm did not like to be idle he was Sexton of St. Luke Lutheran Church; Wil-lingboro NJ until his health began to fail. He was a member of the Burlington Harley Owners Group proudly riding his Harley Davidson Special Edition Dresser on many trips and parades to Rolling Thunder in Washington DC. He also Served as Vice- President of the Burlington HOG. He is a Life Member of the Harley-Davidson Owners Group. His hobbies were fishing woodworking & camping at Sleepy Hollow Campground. His favorite hobby was spending time with his children and grandchildren friends being part of the St Luke Lutheran Church congregation & his beloved fire company.
Norman was a member of Somers Point Fire Co #1 serving 6 years as Captain. He Joined the Willingboro Volunteer Co. in 1961; elected & served as Fire Chief for 12 years; served 8 years as Chairman of the Board of Fire Commissioners. He proudly served with the Willingboro Volunteer Fire Co. for 45 years. He is a Life Member of Willingboro Volunteer Fire Co. International Assoc. of Fire Chiefs Eastern Fire Chiefs Assoc. Burlington Cty. Fire Chiefs Assoc. Life Member of the NJ State Firemen's Assoc. member of the NJ State Fire Chiefs Assoc. & Exempt & Life Member of the Firemen's Relief Assoc. He will be missed for his kind loving ways; his ability to tell a joke & puns & his all around goodness.
Relatives and Friends are invited to Norm's Life Celebration Service at SNOVER/GIVNISH OF CINNAMINSON 1200 Rt. 130 North on Wednesday from 6:00-9:00 p.m. and Thursday from 8:30-10:00 a.m. followed by his Funeral Service at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be at the Odd Fellows Cemetery Burlington NJ.
