Peter Kressler Obituary

Age 61. Of Wenonah NJ. Died December 8 2003 at home from complications of pancreatic cancer.
A professor of economics at Rowan University for 31 years he was recognized internationally for his research into the use of metocognitive learning in the teaching of economics.
In the late 70's Dr. Kressler proposed the creation of economics department at Glassboro State College and he later served as department chairperson. Prior to joining the faculty at Rowan Dr. Kressler taught at Akron University where he developed the Master's degree program in international business. Before that he was employed by the US Tariff Commission and the US Department of Commerce in Washington D.C.
Born in Philadelphia Dr. Kressler was a graduate of Penn Charter High School and the School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University. He received Master's and Doctorate degrees in business and applied economics from the University of Pennsylvania. He also earned CLU and ChFC designations and was employed as a special agent with Prudential on a part-time basis.
He co-authored the book Inheritance: What is the Process? and at the time of his death was working on a second book on the management of an estate. Dr. Kressler enjoyed teaching travel learning about art and antiques his home his family and his 2 dogs.
He is survived by his wife Amelia (nee Braun) son Brooke of College Station TX daughter Gwen Kressler of Woodbury his mother LuAnn of Philadelphia a brotherDavid of Bethesda MD former sister-in law Jane of Dobbs Ferry NY a nephew and2 nieces.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family Saturday 2:00 to 4:30 p.m. at SMITH FUNERAL HOME 47 Main St. Mantua where funeral services will be held at 4:30 p.m. Cremation will be private.
A memorial service at Rowan University will be scheduled at a later date.
As an expression of sympathy memorial donations to the Amelia and Peter Kressler Scholarship Fund Rowan University Foundation 201 Mullica Hill Rd. Glassboro NJ 08028 would be appreciated.
