Thomas Berko Obituary

On Jan. 1 2006 Thomas age 84 of Haddon Twp. formerly of Phila.
Tom was the owner of Berko Brothers Company in Phila. which was founded by his father and uncle in 1903 and in operation until 1974 when it was taken by Eminent Domain for the construction of the Vine Street Expessway. Berko Brothers Co. manufactured miscellaneous and ornamental iron structural steel and woven wire.
A World War II Veteran Tom was the past commodore of the Sea Isle City Yacht Club and he operated a charter fishing boat out of Townsend's Inlet.
He is lovingly survived by his wife Mary M. (nee Merz); his children Susan B. (Robert) Glass of Havertown PA Stephen M. (Jennifer) of Overland Park KS Liz Anne (Kurt) Guenther of Haddon Twp. and his grandchildren Kurt Stephen and Karl Guenther and Justin Brendan and Caroline Berko. He was predeceased by his beloved daughter Nancy F.
His viewing will be held Thursday from 7-9 PM at the HEALEY FUNERAL HOME 9 White Horse Pike (at Kings Hwy.) Haddon Heights and again Friday from 10-11 AM at St. Vincent Pallotti Church 901 Hopkins Lane Haddon Twp. NJ 08033 where his Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM. Int. Holy Sepulchre Cemetery Cheltenham PA. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to either the St. Vincent Pallotti Building Fund or St. Joseph's Prep School. 1733 Girard Ave. Phila. PA 19130
