To the Tharps -- I was extremely sad to hear this news.
Please know my Uncle -- Kenny Jacoby -- always called Tom the best friend he ever had. Straight through until Uncle Kenny died a few years ago, he always had funny stories about their shenanigans.
As for myself, I knew Mr. Tharp -- and I wouldn't dare call him anything but Mr. Tharp -- for as long as I can recall. Whether it was a childhood sleepover watching RoboCop in the den on Albany Avenue with the wood fire stove going, a senior year football game with him standing at the fence, or a post-college encounter at a local watering hole, I cannot recall a single instance when Mr. Tharp wasn't welcoming and genuinely interested in not just me and my life, but all my family members as well.
Sending prayers for Mr. Tharp and his family.

Sue, Lisa and I are thinking of you during this time of sadness you and your family are in our prayers. I have had the pleasure of knowing the Tharp family for a very long time. They have made me feel more like a family member than just a neighbor. Tom and Sue got me thru ninth grade algebra still thankful for that. Tom and his Dad taught me a lot about life I will miss them both.

"Uncle Tom" as my kids would call him. I am sad to know he is gone from us. A good husband, dad, grandpop, friend, buddy and brother. I spent a lot of time with this man through high school and many years after. I've also spent time with his family and know every one of them well. The stories and memories of him and with him put a smile on my face during this sad time. We did a lot of funny and sometimes crazy things together over the years but always landed back on our feet and back at it the next weekend. He may be gone from us but I will not forget him. "Aunt Nancy" and "Uncle Butchie" love this family !

Tom was an old football buddy at HTHS during 1965. We enjoyed a lot of laughs during those years. I will miss your laugh and constant smile. See you at another Maier football practice. Blessings to the family.

Tom was always such a fun guy to be around. During high school in the locker room, Tom always had a big grin and was one of the real practical jokers that kept everyone loose. On the field, he was tough as nails and a great teammate. I know we are getting older but seeing Tom's obituary really made me sad. He was a war hero that most people never knew . . . that's how Tom was. Never blew his own horn. I always remember him dating Sue and so pleased that they had each other for as many years as they did. Rest easy Tom.
