William Andersen Obituary

William Andersen

AGE: 86 • Washington Twp.

William Andersen of Washington Township, formerly of Woodbury on June 3, 2011. Aged 86 years.

Legacy

A man full of happiness and joy, Bill loved his family and his life. Born and raised in Brooklyn, he proudly served in the US Navy SeaBees Construction Battalion during WWII. Bill worked for many years as a carpenter for Union Local #47, NY District Council of NYC. In 1981, he personally renovated a building which had been in ill repair on South Broad St. in downtown Woodbury. This became not only his family's home, but housed their successful business, The Nut Shop. Bill was a friendly and familiar face around town. He was active in Woodbury Kiwanis, The Merchant's Association, The Chamber of Commerce and helped make the WWII memorial become a reality.

Family

He is the beloved husband of 40 years to Carol A. (nee Stanley); devoted father of Loretta Christy, Judy Kane, Terry Lemire, Karen Bozarth, Robert Andersen and the late Priscilla Bunn and William Andersen; dear brother of Norman and Roy Andersen; loving grandfather and great-grandfather to many.

Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation 1:30 PM and memorial service 2:30 PM Wednesday in the McGuinness Funeral Home, 573 Egg Harbor Rd., Washington Township (Sewell).
