my daughter wrote this on face book and I would like to share this with everyone.
Our Pastor, Uncle Barry received his promotion. With that promotion came a change of address, upgrade in housing, a whole new wardrobe, a crown to match, and all of the heartaches of this world gone. We will all miss him, but he lives on in our memories and all of the lessons he taught us, whether it be through his sermon or just him giving his 2 cents worth during a conversation. Or the absolute comfort you got when he looked at you and said "Everything will be okay" or called every little boy he met buddy/pal. I am so thankful for the role he has played in my life and the time that we were able to share with him.
When I sat down to tell Brennen (he is the one that I thought would collapse from the news), he looked at me with tears streaming down my face hugged me, patted me on the back, and said "It's okay, mommy. God needed him."
He is not gone from us forever. All of us have the option to see him again and the choices we have to make in order to ensure that it happens are left to us. If you knew our Pastor and have the desire to see him again you know what is necessary to make it happen.
I pray that the example he set for us is forever at the forefront of our memories. If you ever have any doubts you can look at the man he was and although he was human KNOW that God is real and that he loves each and everyone of us.

My pastor and brother when you would call on him no matter what time it was day or in the middle of the night he would always take time to pray for you. When he told you everything was going to be all right you could take it to the Lord and cash it in because it always came to pass for me. I love you and miss you very much love always your sister Nikki.

Bro Barry and Sister Donna are precious saints of God. We love them dearly. We stayed in their home many times as Bro McGaughy preached several revivals at Bro Barrys Church. I know he will be greatly missed by his family friends and his congregation. Our thoughts and prayers are with you, and deepest sympathy to Sister Donna. Praying that the Lord will keep and bring peace to you. Love Sister McGaughy.... Corinth, Mississippi.

Barry loved the Lord and his life showed that. He was a great servant and was always there for all who needed him. His faith was unfailing and his knowledge of the bible unending. He studied and obeyed the precious word of God. Oh, what an example he was of being a child of the King. I know he is standing on the golden streets and still preaching Jesus. He was a preacher that would preach the gospel and not water it down. Barry will be missed and he was loved. WELL DONE!

Heartfelt prayers and my deepest sympathy to his closest family: Wife, children, siblings. Barry was my cousin and officiated at my Mom's funeral, his Aunt Juanita, 4 years ago, even though he was battling health issues. A God-fearing man, loved by many. Rest in peace, Barry. Until we meet again.
