Billy Musgrave Obituary

Billy Lee Musgrave Sr.

Chandler, Indiana - Billy "Bill" Lee Musgrave, Sr., 84 years old, a resident of Chandler, IN for his entire life, died on Thursday, May 14, 2020, due to COVID-19. He spent the last several years at Hamilton Pointe, Newburgh, IN. He loved it there, and they took good care of him. Bill was known for his colorful personality and genuine laughter.

Born on May 8, 1936, Bill was the first son of Richard E. and Helen (Hennings) Musgrave. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother (Kenny Musgrave), and only child (Bil Musgrave). Bill graduated from Chandler High School in 1954.

Bill's professional career was a Foreman in the gas department at SIGECO/Vectren. His lineage of community service was obvious as a 20-year member and past-Chief of the Chandler Volunteer Fire Department and a part-time Chandler Police officer for 20 years. He was an honorary, lifetime member of Warrick County FOP Lodge 148. He was commissioned Kentucky Colonel in 1989 and belonged to Strangers Rest Lodge No. 240 for over fifty years.

He was a member of the Hadi Shriners, a Hadi Noble, and past-President of the Warrick County Klowns. "I have a big place in my heart for kids of all ages. Being a clown gives me a chance to make them smile," he once said. "Happy Heart" and his balloon creations brought smiles and joy to tri-state children for over two decades at the Shrine Circus and other celebrations.

Relaxing at his river camp and the Poor Man's Country Club were other pastimes he appreciated. He took his family for boat rides, pulled skiers, and frequently allowed the kids to become captain (with his oversight). He liked dove hunting, archery, playing golf and was a fan of taking it easy. He was a strong patriarch for his family, a good man—one who would give his shirt for a friend without question. He bestowed values, virtues, and memories upon a network of families and communities that will last for generations.

The family wishes to thank all who participated in his care. Memorial contributions can be made to Shriner's Hospital for Children or the Chandler Volunteer Fire Department.

So sorry for your loss. I was Billy's night shift nurse at Hamilton. He called me "Boonville". I will miss the coffee and chocolate loving insomniac! He could always make me laugh. RIP
