Charles Alsip Obituary

Charles R. Alsip Sr., 85, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away Saturday, June 12, 2010 at Deaconess Hospice Care Center.
Charles was a WWII veteran and fought his way across Europe as a member of the 26th Infantry Division in Patton's Third Army. He was in the Bastogne relief column and was wounded in action during the latter stages of the Battle of the Bulge. In many ways he was a soldier the remainder of his life. Charles retired from the electrical maintenance department at Ball Plastics, previously known as Kent Plastics. He was a member of Garvinwood Baptist Church and a life member of VFW Post 1114. Charles liked traveling, especially out west, he was also an avid reader and his love for the west carried over into the movies he enjoyed watching. Charles "Bunk" is survived by his daughters, Loretta (Keith) Weisheit and Cheryl (Ric) Hulsey of Olathe, KS, his sons, Charles (Vicky) Alsip II, David R. Alsip and Daniel (Kathy) Lee Alsip, his sister, Sharon Stone and brother, Freddie Alsip, 13 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren.
Charles is preceded in death by his wife of 29 years, Bettie (Becker) Alsip, his former wife Loretta (Sartin) Alsip, his parents, Rollie "Buck" and Stella (Rowan) Alsip, his sisters, Mary Parker, Irma Lucile Alsip, Elizabeth Alsip, Betty Alsip and Ruby Alsip, his brothers, Bobby Alsip and Jimmy Alsip.
Funeral services will be held at 10 A.M., Wednesday, June 16, 2010, at Browning Funeral Home with Chaplain Bill Canary officiating. Entombment will be held at Sunset Memorial Park Mausoleum.
Friends may visit from 12 until 8 P.M., Tuesday, June 15, 2010 at Browning Funeral Home 738 Diamond Ave.
Memorial contributions may be made to Garvinwood Baptist Church, 1611 E. Indiana, Evansville, IN 47711 and Deaconess Hospice Care Center, 4498 First Ave., Evansville, IN 47711.
