Charles Olan Hill, Jr., age 87 of Evansville, IN passed away on February 7, 2018 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital. Charles was born in Ridgely, Tennessee on November 2, 1930 to the late Charles O. Sr. and Florence M. Hill.
He grew up in St. Louis, MO until he enlisted in the Army in 1950 and fought in the Korean War. After coming home from Korea with honorable discharge, he became a barber. He moved to Evansville in the 1950s. He began working for L&N/CSX railroad in 1962. He retired from the railroad on November 2, 1992, with 3 years of service in Pensacola, FI. After his retirement, he & his wife (Janet) moved back to Evansville in 1995 but continued going to Lakeland, FL for the past 22 years where they lived six months a year. While in Florida, he made many friends from all over the world. He attended Lake Gibson Nazarene Church faithfully. He loved playing shuffleboard in the winter. When back in Evansville for the summer, he was a SWIRCA member where he played pool and cards most every day. He loved his SWIRCA friends.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, (Harold) and 3 sisters (Louise, Katie and Charlene).
He is survived by his wife, Janet (Mowery) Hill; daughters, Charlet (Ashley) Fuller of Mobile AL, Rashawn (David) Leinenbach of Evansville and Rhonda (Steven) Biggs of Cadiz, KY; sons, Rick Hayes of Jasper, IN and Ryan (Jane) Hayes of Zephyrhills, FL; ten grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and two sisters.
He dearly loved his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. His family was the world to him.
Visitation will be Sunday, February 11, 2018, from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm, at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel, 800 South Hebron, Evansville. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 am, Monday, February 12, 2018 at the funeral home with Rev. Steve Schwambach officiating.
Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to SWIRCA & More, 16 West Virginia Street, Evansville, IN 47710.

Janet I am so sorry to hear about Charlie passing away. I saw him at SWIRCA either on Monday or Tuesday. I hope he didn't have to suffer. It will put a major hole in your life, but I hope you get along just fine. RIP Charlie.
