Tell City, IN
Clara Peter, 86, passed away Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at her home, surrounded by family.
She was born in Perry County on August 1, 1929 to the now late Stella (Rogier) and Eli Claise. Also preceding her in death are her husband, Charles; infant daughter, Stella; and 12 siblings.
Clara was a lifelong homemaker, caregiver and babysitter. She was a member of St. Paul Church and enjoyed sewing and cooking.
Surviving are her children, Leona Poehlein (Vic) of Tell City, Joe Peter (Sharon) of Tell City, David Peter (Michele) of Gatchel, John Peter (Sheryl) of Tell City and Angela Hammack (Mike) of Tell City; a sister, Amy Gerlach of Tell City; seven grandchildren, Clint Poehlein, Kelly Foster, Jay and Natalie Peter, Charlie Peter, Mason and Kade Peter; one great- grandson, Keaton Foster.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11a.m. CST Friday, February 12, 2016 at St. Paul Church. Father Sengole Thomas will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 2-8 p.m. and Friday 9-10:30 a.m. at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Gentiva Hospice or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
