To Cynthia, Rudy and the rest of the family. Dan was a man of integrity. He had a great sense of humor. Dan never took himself or life too seriously. He knew he had a lot to be thankful for in life, starting with family. Dan will be missed; but, never forgotten. Dan and his whole extended family is in our thoughts and prayers.

We are so sad to hear of Dan's passing; I worked with Dan at the Western company back in the early 80's. He was a great guy and we all worked hard for him. All of us crewmembers had some really great times at work with him Rest in peace Dan, we will miss you. Our prayers are with you and your family.

Cynthia and Amanda,
You two are in our prayers. We are sad to hear Danny has left us on this earth, but do look forward to meeting his spirit once again. As any one knows just a little while after meeting Danny, he truly loved three things. He loved God, he loved you both to the moon and back, and he loved his country. We are celebrating Danny's life and the joy, happiness, love, honesty, and security he gave us all. May God bless you with happy memories when you have sorrowful moments.
Love,
Debi & Scott Young

The Final Salute
“Brothers in Arms”, Military men and women down through the centuries, have traditionally exchanged “Hand Salutes” as a sign of recognition and as a way to render courtesy and respect one to another.
This “Hand Salute” is the last that we shall render to Daniel Gene Hines our “Brother-in-Arms”. To his family it symbolizes the love and respect that we have for Danny. And to Danny it is rendered as a symbol of honor and gratitude to thank him for the devoted and selfless service he rendered to his country during the Vietnam War while serving as a helicopter pilot in the U.S. Army. Danny, we commend you for your honorable service. You are a true patriot, who served with honor and distinction. You upheld the finest qualities of an American patriot warrior: courage, commitment, generosity, sacrifice, love and devotion to family and country. You were a true friend. We bid you a sad farewell. You will be dearly missed from among our ranks. Be at Ease. Rest in Peace.
On behalf of the 1,261 military veteran Legionnaires of Lowe-McFarlane Post 14 of the American Legion and the 233 veterans of VFW Post 2238 in Shreveport, Louisiana, we extend our sympathies and our condolences to Danny's family and loved ones.
