Darrel retired from Whirlpool in 1998 after 40 years of service.
He loved golfing, fishing, hunting, and spending time with his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jerold Owen Kissel.
Darrel is survived by his wife, Drema (Holstein) Blevins Smith; mother, Ellen Kissel of Evansville; brother, Charles Gailend Smith and wife, Janis of Evansville; uncle, Roland Kissel and wife, Anita of Evansville; daughter, Darla Cannon and husband, Dave of Evansville; son, Darrel R. Smith Jr. and wife, Tina of Boonville; daughter, Patty Blevins Harper and husband, Jeff of Madisonville, KY; son, Richard G. Blevins of Arizona; son, John L. Blevins and wife, Cam of St. Louis, MO; five granddaughters, Christy, Katie, Leighann, Kyrstin, and Louisa; six grandsons, D.J., James, Steven, Logan, Lucas, and Jessie; two great-grandsons, Devin and Lucas; and expecting two great-granddaughters, Ava and Emma; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Services will be 11:30 a.m. Monday, July 7, 2008, at Alexander North Chapel, officiated by Rev. Tony Seale with burial at West Lawn Cemetery in Hanson, Kentucky. Friends may visit Sunday from 2 to 8 p.m. and Monday from 10:30 a.m. until service time at Alexander North Chapel.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 6301 Old Boonville Hwy., Suite B, Evansville, IN 47715 or the Evansville Cancer Center, 700 N. Burkhardt Road, Evansville, IN 47715. Drema, Charles, Janis & Family.. We are so very saddened to hear of Darrel's passing. He is beholding glories I'm sure we can't imagine and yet it's so very hard to be left behind to miss him! God Bless you all and please know that you are in our prayers!
