David Biggs Obituary

David Arnold Biggs, 71, of Evansville, passed away Saturday, March 20, 2010, at Newburgh Health Care Center. He was born May 17, 1938, in Terre Haute, Ind.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Emerson B. Biggs and Helen D. Hulsey and infant daughter, Christine Elizabeth Biggs.

David was a member of Eastminster Presbyterian Church, where he served as Elder. He was active in the Monthly Men's Club and served on several committees. He served in the National Guard of Indiana where he attained the rank of Sergeant E-5, Service Battery 163rd Field Artillery and the Army Reserve 139 Artillery where he attained the rank of Sergeant.

He and his wife enjoyed square dancing for many years. He was very involved in children's sports activities. He helped with Habitat for Humanity through Whirlpool and through his church.

David retired from the Whirlpool Engineering Department as Design Drafter in 1997 after 30 years.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Jane Anderson Biggs; son, Christopher David Biggs (Tally); daughter, Jennifer Biggs Martin (Justin); granddaughter, Ella Marie Biggs; grandsons, Hudson Thomas Biggs, Carter Anderson Biggs and Luke David Martin; granddaughter, Bree Elizabeth Martin; sister, Marilyn Allen; brothers, Emerson, Donald, and Daniel Biggs; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 24, 2010, at Park Lawn Cemetery, Georgian Chapel, 1526 S. Green River Road.

Memorial contributions may be made to Vanderburgh Humane Society, 400 Millner Industrial Drive, Evansville, IN 47710. Condolences may be made online at www.alexandereastchapel.com.
