Donn married Sandra Saxe on May 24, 1952, who survives. He retired as superintendent of Countrymark Cooperative Refinery in Mt. Vernon, was a residential builder, and had served overseas in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the American Legion, both in Mt. Vernon, and trustee of Black River Cemetery near Poseyville, Ind.
Donn is also survived by his daughter, Jetta Almon; two sons, Brent (Mary Jane) and Derek (Tanya) Almon; grandchildren, Luke (Carrie), Alex (Michelle), Brandin, Courtney and Glory Almon, Chasidy (Bobby) Simpson, Josh Kilgore and Amanda (Derek) McCord; and great-grandchildren, Derek Joel McCord, Kira Almon and Tristam Gilles. Donn is also survived by his sister, Vera (Choppy) Johnson.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, October 28, at Schneider Funeral Home, 512 Main Street, Mt. Vernon, Ind.
Private memorial service will be held Wednesday, October 29, 2008, with the Rev. Tom Heaton officiating, burial in Bethsaida Church Cemetery near Stewartsville, Ind.
