Duane Edward Wiles, 89, of Evansville, Ind., passed away Sunday, September 18, 2016, at his home.

Duane was born in Ellery, Ill., on August 18, 1927, to the late Ivan and Edith (Mitchell) Wiles. He served honorably in the United States Navy. Duane was employed as a school bus driver for a year before becoming head mechanic at the EVSC Bus Garage for 23 years. He retired in 1993. Duane was a member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ since 1991. He was an avid bowler and could fix anything. Duane enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family.

Duane is survived by his wife of 48 years, Joyce (Nau) McDaniel Wiles; children, Stan Wiles (Jan) of Fairfield, Ill., Dala Jo McDaniel and Angela Osborne of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Scott McDaniel (Kristie) of Evansville; sisters, Sandra Thomason of Bone Gap, Ill., Mary Louise Smith of Albion, Ill., Marlene Blake of Highland, Miss.; brothers, Carl Wiles (Amy) of California and Paul Wiles of Pueblo, Colo.; grandchildren, Justin Wiles (Dawn), Megan Black (Robert), Jordan Wiles (fiancée, Katie Pollard), Marinda Cornett, Emma Cornett, Nathanael Heifner (fiancée, Whitney Litherland), Amy Jo McDaniel, Max McDaniel (Chelsie); great-grandchildren, Grant Wiles, Graham Black, Carson Black, and Camden River McDaniel.

Duane was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Deloris (Vaughn) Wiles; and his sister, Norma Shoaff.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, September 20, 2016, at Browning Funeral Home, 738 Diamond Ave., Evansville, Ind., with Rev. Brian Buschkill officiating. Graveside services will follow at 1 p.m. at Maple Hill Cemetery in Fairfield, Ill.

Friends may visit from 4 until 8 p.m. Monday, September 19, 2016, at Browning Funeral Home, and again from 9 a.m. until time of service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
