Dustin Matthew Fishback, 35 years old, of Owensville, IN and formerly of Carmi, passed away Thursday, May 11, 2017 as a result of a car accident. He was a coal miner at Sunrise Coal in Oaktown, Indiana. Dustin was a 1999 graduate of Carmi-White County High School and received an Associates Degree from Lincoln Tech. He was a loving husband, father, son, and brother. Dustin always had a smile on his face, and was willing to lend a hand to anyone in need.
He is survived by his wife, Rebecca; daughter, Elana; and a son, Liam. He loved them with all of his heart. They were the joy of his life. He also leaves to mourn, his mother and step-father, Glenn and Carla (Fishback) Jacobs of Crossville; his father, Arnold French of Kankakee; his brother, Michael (Ashley) French of Carmi; step-sister, Beth (Mark) Lehman; grandmother, Bernie Fishback of Carmi; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Joe and Marlys Brown; brother-in-law, Adam (Amanda) Brown of Carmi; sister-in-law, Crystal (David) Blake of Carmi; uncles, Glenn (Desi) Fishback of Monroe City, IN, James (Jessica) Fishback of Carmi, and David (Kim) Fishback of Berea, KY; aunts, Dawn Ann Beadles of Carmi, and Dixie Wilson of Kankakee, IL; and his childhood friend, Brandon Offutt, who he loved like a brother. He also leaves to mourn a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his Gramps, Charles Martin Fishback, his aunt, Jan Fishback, and his great-great granny, Edna Whitehead.
A Celebration of Life for Dustin Matthew Fishback, 35, will be held at 12:00 pm, Saturday, May 20, 2017 at the Carmi VFW, 406 East Main St. with a visitation with food and fellowship to immediately follow. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Elana and Liam Fishback Education Fund and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi who is in charge of arrangements.
