Frances was born in Stewartsville to Bessie (Carney) and Harry Schnarr on November 23, 1928. She was owner/operator along with her husband Marvin of Sass & Poss Tavern for 38 years. She worked at Swift Meat & Packing Co. for several years prior.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Anna Carman and Elizabeth Metz; one brother, Leonard Schnarr; and a granddaughter, Timia McGennis.
She is survived by her husband Marvin McDurmon; three daughters, Toni Ann Gross and her husband Phillip, Paula May and Marvali Taylor, all of Mount Vernon; four grandchildren, Phillona Gross, Heather Yeida, and Whittni and Zachary Taylor; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday, August 21, 2006, at the Werry Funeral Home, New Harmony Chapel, with burial in Bethsaida Cemetery near Stewartsville. Rev. Joyce Beasley and Rev. Steven Claspell presiding. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 10 a.m. until service time Monday at the Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Bethsaida Cemetery or the American Cancer Society.

My mother was deeply saddened to hear of Sass' death. They have been friends since before I was born. Mother's health has kept her from visiting the last few years but she always talked about going to see Sass when she was better. We are sorry for your loss.
