Harry was a veteran of the Army, serving in the Phillipine Campaign, where he was wounded in action, but did not receive his Purple Heart for 50 years, which was presented to him by Senator Lugar.
He was employed at SIGECO for 43 years. Harry was a lifetime member of VFW Post No. 1114.
He enjoyed spending his free time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Harry was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma G. Brandt; stepdaughter, Zizi Bridges; and grandchild, Lydia Chumley; three brothers; and two sisters.
He is survived by his daughter, JoEllyn Ewin and husband, Bill; son, Terry Brandt and wife, Roberta "Bobbie"; stepdaughter, Peggy Lefler; grandchildren, Keith Ewin, Daynette France, Brandi Collins, Jeff Brandt, Shelly, Gary, Stan, Tammy and Gina Chumley, Randy, Mel, Mark, Kevin and Cory Smith, Kim Williams, Rhonda Cutler, many great and great-great grandchildren.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the entire staff of Newburgh Health Care Center, which became part of his family, where he was also known as Wilbur.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 23, 2007, at Alexander East Chapel, officiated by Reverend Jerry Arman, with entombment at Alexander Memorial Park. Friends may visit today from 3 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

your father was a real joy. May god help you through this sad time. I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Brandt while i worked at newburgh health care. Harry always made my day.His smile would just cheer me up. He will be truely missed. Harry is just another angel up in heaven looking down on his children and their familys may god bless you and your family through this very sad time
