She enjoyed being a member of P.E.O. Chapter BJ, Captain Henry Vanderburgh Chapter DAR, Thomas Sprigg Sr. Chapter Colonial Dames, Southern Indiana Doll Club, Order of Eastern Star-Chapter 210 in Washington, Ind., and the Azalea Society.
Helen was a member of McCutchanville United Methodist Church. She enjoyed making hand-sewn dolls and Santa Claus cookies.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry R. Schroeder Jr., MD; daughter, Nancy J. Dippel; and brothers, G. Robert Hyatt and William W. Hyatt.
Helen is survived by her daughter, Rosemary Schroeder and husband, Walt Ernst of Cincinnati, Ohio; son, David R. Schroeder of Evansville; son, Stephen L. Schroeder of Evansville; daughter, Susan C. and husband, Edward J. Northrop, DVM of Mulberry, Ind.; grandchildren, Caroline A. Dippel and Stephanie M. Dippel, both of Evansville, Zachariah E. Northrop and Helen M. Northrop, both of Mulberry, Ind.; and sister-in-law, Mary Ann Hyatt of Columbia, Miss.
Services 11 a.m. Saturday, September 23, 2006, at Sugarland Memorial Gardens Chapel in Washington, Ind., officiated by Reverend Robert Vester. Friends may visit Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Alexander North Chapel.

Helen was my cousin on the Webster side, and I always enjoyed visiting her and her family. I also consider her one of the best cooks and always looked forward to her family dinners. She has lived with dignity and caring for others instead of dwelling on anything negative in her life. We will miss her E-mails.
