Jerry, having introduced me to my future wife, was my Best Man. We got married on the Flatboat Pegasus, for which Jerry served as the Support Boat Captain. His daughter, Kelli, and my son, Tony, were born at about the same time. After my family and I moved away, Jerry and I saw each other seldom, but he was never far from my thoughts. My condolences to his family. He will be missed by many!

Jerry was a great friend and we worked together for a few years on the reassessment. I was always amazed how many people knew Jerry and really loved him It wasn't unusual for someone on the street to run up and hug Jerry. His students never forgot him and it was obvious they all loved him. He will be missed.

Three things I'll always remember about Jerry Tinsley: 1) He wholeheartedly adored his daughters. 2) His laughter was contagious and his smile infectious . 3) I never would have taught for 21 years myself had he not mentored me through my first year at Evans Middle School, and for that, I am truly grateful. He was a friend to all, so positive and encouraging. My condolences to Paige and Kelli. Farewell, my friend...

I had Mr. Tinsley as my teacher at Stanley Hall for many years. He was the best teacher! He was always kind and supported his kids. I even got to clean his chalk boards for him after class which I was happy to do because he mean't so much to me. Family just know he has touched so many students in his life time. I'm sad, but I smile when I think of him.
