John Heumann Obituary
Evansville, Ind.
Dr. John Heumann, 79, of Evansville, passed away Friday, October 21, 2016, in Bloomington, Ind. He was born November 2, 1936, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to the late John and Kathleen (Ward) Heumann.
He graduated from Bosse High School in 1955. He received his undergraduate degree from Indiana University in 1959, and graduated from Indiana University Medical School in 1963. Dr. Heumann completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Vanderbilt University in 1966. He proudly served as a Captain in the U.S. Army in Vietnam in 1966 to 1967. After serving his country, he returned to Evansville and practiced orthopedic surgery for 30 years with Orthopedic Associates and retired in 1997. Dr. Heumann was an avid Cincinnati Reds fan, enjoyed golf, bridge and spending time with his family.
Dr. Heumann is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary Heumann (Holsclaw), of Bloomington; daughter, Gayle Allesee (Pete), of Toledo, Ohio; sons, John Heumann (Michelle) of Springfield, Ill., Dr. Greg Heumann (Sara) of Bloomington, Ind.; grandchildren, Eric and Jessica Heumann, Kellie, Ryan, Rachel, Carson and Cooper Heumann, Madi and Coleman Oliphant, Matt, Chris (Kelley), Sam (Ayesha) Allesee; great-grandchildren, Emery and Julia Allesee.
Visitation will be 3 to 6 p.m. on Friday, October 28, 2016, at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel, 800 S. Hebron Ave., Evansville.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, October 29, 2016, at the funeral home with Charles Manion officiating.
Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Evansville.

I was one of his first patients in Evansville and he spent countless hours saving my leg that others wanted to remove became close to my parents and continued support for many years after 49 years I can still walk on that leg and I have no metal in it he is a Wonderful person and Doctor I am sure he is peacefully resting with many angels to assist him now he sure was my angel... Prayers to all the family!

I worked with Dr. Heumann for 20 years at Deaconess on 4600. He was always a ray of sunshine and always had a smile on his face. You always heard him before you saw him. I always missed him when I quit.
I had a lot of respect for him.
