Joseph "Papa Joe" M. Gardner

Evansville, Ind.

Joseph "Papa Joe" M. Gardner, 83, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away Friday, May 18, 2018 at his home.

Joe was born in Evansville, Indiana on November 15, 1934 to the late Bernard and Marie (Stauber) Gardner. Joe was a mechanic at Staubs. He loved NASCAR, fishing and being on the Ohio river.

Joe is survived by his wife of 66 years, Rachel (Miles) Gardner of Evansville, IN; sons, Joseph M. Gardner, II of Evansville, IN and Ricky Joe Gardner of Francisco, IN; daughters, Jo Ann Neuffer (Randall) of Evansville, IN, Rita Jo Thomas (Maurice) of Evansville, IN and Joella Martin (Ronnie) of Henderson, KY; grandchildren, Joel Neuffer, Ami Wagner, Kerri Gardner, Joey Gardner, Lacey Gardner, Tammy Gardner, and Casey Brendel; nine great-grandchildren; and special friends, Terry Jones and Richard Wargel.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Robin Jolene Gardner.

At his request no services will be held.
