Joyce Harp Obituary

Joyce Harp, 74, of Evansville, Ind., passed away Monday, November 15, 2010, at St. Mary's Hospital.

She worked several part-time jobs in Evansville. The one she enjoyed the most was working with children through the Foster Grandparent program. She love to crochet, cook, bake, read, spend time with family and friends, and take care of her children.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, John and Ruby Garrison; son, Dale Eugene Higgs Sr.; brother, Donald Garrison; sister-in-law; several brothers-in-law; and several nieces.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years, James Elwood Harp of Evansville; two sons, Ronald Lee Higgs of Evansville and James Alan Harp and his wife, Beth of Evansville; four daughters, Cynthia Ann (Higgs) Wongngamnit and her husband, Suchai of Evansville and Bangkok, Thailand; Pamela Dean Higgs of Evansville; Peggy Irene (Harp) Perry and her husband, Mark of Boonville; and Judy Lynn (Harp) Harbison and her companion, Scott Campbell of Evansville; 21 grandchildren; 14 granddaughters are Tammy Marie Williams and her husband, Wayne of Cadiz, Ky., Windy Kay Higgs of Henderson, Ky., Melissa Jo Kennady and her husband, Mark of Cadiz, Ky., Bobby Lee Williams and her husband, Greg of Evansville, Bailey Christina Higgs of Evansville, Miranda Lee Anna Higgs of Evansville, Ronnie Lee Higgs of Evansville, Hannah Brooke Higgs of Evansville, Sabra Halen Higgs of Evansville, Chinda Wongngamnit and her husband, Andrew Healy of Los Angeles, Calif., Kerry Ann Johnson and her fiancé, Shawn Gish of Evansville, KC Higgs and her fiancé, Rogello Lara of Evansville, Amber Dawn Smith and her husband, Derek of Evansville, and Samantha Marie Harbison and her companion, Matthew Beaven of Camdenton, Mo.; seven grandsons are Narin Wongngamnit MD of Denver, Colo., David Wayne Johnson and wife, Diana of Evansville, Andrew Cole Johnson and his wife, Kristie of Bowling Green, Ky., Dale Eugene Higgs, Jr and his fiancé, Katie of Evansville, Michael Joseph Milburn and his wife, Tina of Evansville, Tyler Dean Perry of Boonville, and Gregory Scott Harp and his wife, Kendall of Evansville; 37 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Lessie Belle Harp of Evansville, Leona May Frankenberger and her husband, Herman of Evansville, Mabel Pearl Tallent of Evansville, and Janice Earline Robertson of Evansville; two brothers, Leroy Garrison of Evansville and James Henry Garrison and his wife, Billie of Newburgh; one sister-in-law, Lois Jean Garrison of Evansville; nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great nieces, cousins, and a life-long friend, Genaveria Owen.

Services will be 1 p.m. Friday, November 19, 2010, at Alexander West Chapel, officiated by Rev. Raymond Abbott with entombment at Alexander Memorial Park. Friends may visit Thursday from 2 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
