Larry Owen Obituary
Evansville, IN
Larry F. Owen, 78, of Evansville, died Thursday, March 30, 2017 at Deaconess Hospital. Larry was born August 7, 1938 in Clay, Kentucky, to the late Felix "Les" and Rothmel (Shelton) Owen.
He graduated from Bosse High School in 1956. He attended Indiana University where he met the love of his life and wife-to-be, Carol. Larry started working at Krieger-Ragsdale Printing & Lithography in 1958 as an office intern and retired as President in 2000. He missed his wonderful KR co-workers and called every customer "his friend." Larry never met a stranger. His passions were his family, traveling, especially to the Cayman Islands, and talking about his love for cars. Larry was a long time member of Bethlehem United Church of Christ. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Hadi-Shrine, Scottish Rite, Rotary Club, Evansville Country Club, and Oak Meadow Country Club. He was on the University of Evansville Board of Visitors.
Larry is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Carol; sons, Steve (Tina), and Brad (Mary-Beth) of Evansville; grandchildren Leslie Owen of Evansville, Tyler (Cynthia) Owen of Paducah, KY, Hunter Owen of Charleston, WV, Alex Owen of Bloomington, and Nicole Kaufmann of Chicago; brother, James Kelly Owen (Donna) of Florida; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 2:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Monday, April 3, 2017 at Ziemer Funeral Home North Chapel, 6300 N. First Ave., Evansville.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at the funeral home with Reverend Mark Sirnic officiating.
Burial will be private at Bethlehem United Church of Christ Cemetery.
The family wishes to express their deep thanks to Linda White and the staff of nurses and doctors of Deaconess Hospital for their warmth and caring support.
Memorial contributions can be made to Shriner's Hospital for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607.
