What a pleasant surprise! This popped up in my mail box today. As soon as I saw Lolas picture I was reminded of her sweet nature and bubbly personality when she would come in for her dental check ups. Thank you for another visit with Lola!

Lola - friend and "movie buddy". Ever since I first heard Leann Wormack's song "I Hope You Dance" I always think of Lola. The words "When you have a choice to sit it out or dance, I hope you dance". This was Lola - always in the middle of everything with which she was involved. Now all the children in heaven are gathered listening to her stories. Thank you, Annette, for bringing your mother into my life many years ago. What a blessing that has been!

If only all of us lived life with the gusto that Lola did! Our Suzuki violinists looked forward to seeing Ms. Lola at Literacy Day every fall and she was a huge hit when we asked her to be our storyteller for a workshop. She leaves a gentle but significant footprint on the hearts of all who met her. Carol Dallinger, University of Evansville, Music

What a lovely lady! She was my patient at Dr. Hart's office. I just saw her a couple of weeks ago. What a privilege! She had on a pretty purple outfit and looked so cute! Every little thing I would do for her she would say "Thank You! Thank You!" My fellow workers and I all agree what a sweet lady she was!

Lola – a whirlwind of energy and love – we all miss you! Lola and I joined the Evansville Vanderburgh Public Library system in the same year and worked together in various capacities until her retirement. What do I remember?...her boundless enthusiasm, her ready smile, her quick wit, her thorough knowledge of children’s literature, her empathy with kids of all sizes and ages, her inclusiveness, her style, her graciousness. We are all shedding tears, but know that God is welcoming you with open arms.

My mother, Ann Seng, worked at Central Library, too, and I got to know Lola by tagging along with them. Lola was the best kind of librarian, for she knew how to turn you on to a book! Whenever a young people's author comes to town, I think of her, because she was always in the thick of it. She affected many, many people. . . truly a legacy to be proud of!

Although I met Lola while she was at the University of Evansville, my favorite memory of her will always be our trip to Trinidad and Tobago. Even at 81 she was thrilled to put on her bathing suit and explore the waters of Tobago. Sporting a huge smile she donned her mask and fins like a pro. She had an adventurous and kind spirit which is a true inspiration. She will be missed.

I just can't get Lola off my mind. My children and husband as well as myself loved her so much. I always teased her and sang "Whatever Lola Wants Lola Gets" ( a song from musical "Damn Yankees"). I could never tell her no when she needed Michael and I to perform for the library or some other cause. She did so much for teachers in this community that I always wanted to give her something back. I will miss my teacher and friend.

Lola was an inspiration to so many people. I have known her since I was small, but got to really know her when she taught my Children's Literature class at UE. She was amazing, infectuous... She is also one of the main reasons I am a Lit teacher today and that I have passed on a passion for books to my 4 children and to hundreds of students. My family owns the pharmacy downtown and Lola would always come to buy gifts to send to all of you... she loved you so deeply. She would also share stories from her travels. I will never forget the way she said all of your names... they drawled from her southern tongue like sweet honey... I know it hurts, but you were so blessed to have had her. May God be with you all.

Lola was a dear friend and cohort. On many occasions visited my classroom to read and tell the enthralled students exciting stories from the many treasured books she brought with her. Lola never turned down an opportunity to share her love of literature with teachers and students alike. This was a "turn on" for all under her enthusiastic presentation. A great loss to our children, teachers and our community.
