Michael Wayne Putnam
Evansville, Ind.
Michael Wayne Putnam, 66, passed away at Deaconess Hospital, with his family and friends at his side, on December 1, 2013.
Michael was born on July 20, 1947. He graduated from Bosse High School in 1965 and Lockyear Business College in 1967. He retired after 30 years as a sales representative. He served in the US Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Men's Club and helped with bingo for over 20 years at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. He also belonged to the American Legion Post 265, and was an Honorary Kentucky Colonel. He was an avid sports fan and had season tickets to the U of E basketball games. He loved spending his time watching three of his grandsons play basketball and baseball and reading to his youngest grandson. He also enjoyed watching NASCAR, throwing a couple of quarters in the slots, and especially traveling with his best friends, Bill and Patty Weinert.
Michael is survived by his wife of 46 years, Carolyn (TenBarge) Putnam; two daughters, Stacy (Aaron) Gries and Leslie (Andrew) Gasser; grandsons, Samuel Putnam Gries, Theodore Paul Gries, Charles Henry Gries, and Gavin Michael Gasser; father, Harvey K. Putnam; sisters-in-law, Alice (Ronald) Jenkins, Bette (Lou) Dick, Darlene (Tony) Linberg; brother-in-law, William Leach; many nieces and nephews. Michael was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy L. (Herron) Putnam and sister, Barbara Leach.
A special thanks to Deaconess ER staff and Dr. Aleah Gibson and Dr. David Weaver for their amazing care and being with the family.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association or Riley Children's Hospital.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday December 5, 2013 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 1301 S. Green River Rd. Evansville, Ind. Entombment will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery Mausoleum. The Vanderburgh County Retired Veterans Club will conduct military graveside rites.
Visitation will be held from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., Wednesday December 4, 2013 at Titzer Family Funeral Homes ~ Miller & Miller Colonial Chapel, 100 E. Columbia St. Evansville, Ind. (812) 424-9274 and Thursday morning, 10 a.m. to service time at Holy Rosary Catholic Church.

Carolyn, my heart is breaking for you today. Leah called and told me. You've been on my mind and in my prayers all day. I am so deeply sorry.
