Opal worked at Red Spot, The Evansville Store, The Baby Shop, and Rural King. She enjoyed working in the yard, bowling, oil painting, watercolors, but mostly she enjoyed her family.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Edward McBride; son, Roger McBride and wife, Beverly, of Newburgh, IN; daughter, Annette Welker and husband, Thomas, of Indianapolis, IN; brother, Phillip Barnett and wife, Barbara, of Texas; sisters, Dixie Merrett of Florida, Ginger Tuley and husband, Jerry, of Florida, Phyllis Scales and husband, Jerry, of Indiana; sisters-in-law, Mary Shelton of Indiana, and Shirley Stewart of Tennessee; grandchildren, Jamie Giegerich and husband, Eric, Dawn McBride, Matthew McBride, Jeremy Cameron, Tia McBride, Jessy Cameron, Tanya McBride, all of Indiana, and beloved pet, Koko.
Opal was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Frances Barnett.
Services will be held Sunday, November 23, 2008, at 6 p.m. at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel, 800 S. Hebron, Evansville, IN.
Visitation will be held Sunday from 1 to 6 p.m. at Ziemer East.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to Dr. Moore, Dr. Abbas, Dr. Slater, and nurses, Brittany H., Maryann, and Rachel, and Beverly at Guest Services, all of Deaconess.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation Greater Evansville Affiliate, 4424 Vogel Road, Suite 205, Evansville, IN 47715.

Annette, I was so sorry to read about your mom. I wish I could have been at the funeral home to see you and your family but I read it in the paper as I was leaving town Saturday morning. I will keep you and your family in my prayers. I think of you often!!!
