Patricia Winiger Obituary

Patricia Ann "Patty" Winiger

Evansville, IN - On November 18, 2019 Patty's beautiful soul was lifted from the constraints of this earth to eternal freedom in heaven. Patty was born May 21, 1931 in Evansville to the late William Clement and Katherine (Purcell) Titzer.

Surviving are her four children, Judy Mills, Donna (Dennis) Hodges, Joe (Lori) Winiger and David (Jama) Winiger; grandchildren, Ryan and Jordan Mills, Katie Lannert, Todd Wannemuehler, Alex Winiger, Joshua and Evan Winiger, Scott Hodges and Lisa Schwinn; great grandchildren, Kyra and Roselyn Mills, Jared and Allison Lannert, James, Joseph, Thomas, Mary, Peter and Michael Wannemuehler, Celeste and Greyson Hodges, Jacquelyn Schwinn, Isaac Winiger and a baby girl Winiger expected in January. Also surviving Patty are a very special friend, Paul Schutte and her cat, Newbie.

In addition to her parents, Patty was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Gilbert Joseph Winiger, Sr. in 2001; by sisters, Eileen Sargent, Mary Helen Theis, Kathleen Reynolds and Ruth Wilson and by a son-in-law, Ron Mills.

Patty attended St. Benedict Grade School and was a 1949 graduate of Memorial High School, where she was actively involved in the Glee Club.

She was actively involved in her children's activities being a Junior Girl Scout and Cadet leader for both girls; earning the Catholic St. Ann Award. She served as a den mother for both of her sons; earning the Catholic Bronze Pelican Award. She volunteered as a substitute teacher, school volunteer, room mother and member of Corpus Christi Choir. She also sang in the Diocesan Choir, St. Philip Church Choir and Sacred Heart Church Choir. She was a member of Germania Maennerchor, singing with the Damenchor at special events and German festivities in various cities. Patty was a giving, caring person; volunteered at the St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry, Marian Day School, and Pine Haven Nursing Home. She was a former member of Central Turners. She enjoyed anything musical. Patty was Polly McGary in the Evansville Sesquicentennial at the Mesker Amphitheater. She loved to square dance, jitterbug and ball room dance. In later years, Patty enjoyed SongShine of Evansville.

She had many talents, such as writing and telling stories, creating poetry, singing and dancing. She loved to play the piano, especially her all-time favorite song, Edelweiss. She enjoyed playing clabber, working every crossword puzzle she could get her hands on, collecting antique moustache cups, researching genealogy and collecting bells. She was an avid reader and enjoyed spending time with her beloved cat, Newbie. She also enjoyed bible study. Her favorite color was any shade of blue, which reflected in every aspect of her life. She also enjoyed planting flowers and caring for them.

She was employed in the Trust Department and Money Center at Old National Bank from November of 1968 to December of 2005. She was very proud of her employment. She treasured all of her clients and colleagues. She was an Old National Bank Legacy Alumnus.

There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, November 21, 2019 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Rev. Dusty Burns officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.

Dear Judy, Donna, Joe, and David,
I was so sorry to hear of the passing of your beautiful mother. I remember her as always being full of happiness and good humor with a bit of mischief thrown in.
I know that she loved you and that you loved her, and like me with my mom, despite her infirmities, it is hard to think of her actually being gone. I am happy to know that she has been released from her earthly trials and I hope the belief that she has been joyfully welcomed to her heavenly reward can give you all some bit of comfort.

My love to you,

I will always remember Pat in a special way. I will continue to hold on to that dollar bill she gave me many years ago singing next to me at Germania. She said a woman should never go with out cash in her pocket. It is till in the back pocket of my music binder. Her memory will always be in my heart as I know she is singing and dancing with the Angels now!

So sorry for your loss!
Love, Dawnelle Neighbors
