Peggy Herron Obituary
Peggy A. Herron, age 82, of Mt. Vernon, IN, passed peacefully after a long battle with Alzheimer's on Saturday, March 28, 2020, at her home.
Peggy was born July 21, 1937, in Fayetteville, TN, to Lemuel H. George and Mildred George (Pitts). She received Master Degrees in English and Music from Murray State. Peggy retired in 1990 after teaching English for 23 years at Mt. Vernon High School. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church for over 23 years and she was instrumental in founding the gardening around the Mt. Vernon courthouse. She enjoyed volunteering her time at the library.
Peggy is survived by her husband, William Jerry Herron; son, Troy Herron (Linda Reuber); daughter, Mary Ann Henderson; brother, Tom George and many nieces and nephews.
Peggy is preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral Services and Burial will be private.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Paula Goodman and all the other caretakers for their special care.

Mrs. Herron was my freshman English teacher, we were all a bit of a handful back then but I had a lot of respect for her. I wish I could have met up with her in my adult life so I could have apologized for what a brat Im sure I was and to thank her for being a memorable teacher in my life. Prayers for her family and friends. ♥

Another great teacher gone. I will never forget how greatful I was when you allowed me an extra day to turn in the last page of my report. You had the reputation for being "hard", but I knew different.
