Ruby C. (Babb) Simpson, 87, of Evansville, passed away Monday, April 21, 2014, at Deaconess Gateway. She was born May 3, 1926, in Madisonville, KY to the late Bert and Mattie (Fisher) Babb.
Ruby graduated from Madisonville High School in 1944 and later from Lockyear Business College. She was a longtime member of the Eastside Christian Church and the Christian Women Fellowship. She was also a member of many groups including the Shriners Honored Ladies, Eagles Country Club, Friday Night Dance Club, VFW #1114 Ladies Auxiliary, and Oak Meadow and Turners Lady Bridge Clubs.
Ruby was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Russell C. Simpson; son, Mark Simpson; and special friend, Tom Humphrey.
She is survived by her son, Brett (Jan) Simpson; grandchildren, Alex, Mike and Jake Simpson; brother, Wesley (Mary) Babb; and sister, Jane (George) Hale.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Senior Helpers and to the Deaconess Palliative Care Group.
Services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, April 26, 2014, at Alexander East Chapel, officiated by Dr. Linda Parker, with burial in Sunset Memorial Park. Friends may visit Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM and Saturday from 9:00 AM until service time at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Eastside Christian Church, 2001 Bayard Park Dr., Evansville, IN 47714. Condolences may be made online at www.AlexanderEastChapel.com.

Brett... Our family is so very sorry for your loss.. She was a very special and caring lady.. Through her friendship with Tom, we felt as though she was also a part of our family.. Diane was so thankful that your mom and Diane's dad were so close and so good for each other.. Our prayers are with you.

I remember Ruby, Russell, Mark and Brett as the family at East Side Christian Church with two of the sweetest little boys! My prayers are with Brett and his family.
