Ruth Ellard Obituary

Ruth Ellen Ellard, 79, of Evansville, passed away Wednesday, November 4, 2009, at Evansville Protestant Home Hospice, surrounded by her family.

Ruth was born November 21, 1929, in Evansville. She spent most of her life as a homemaker raising her three children with her husband Jesse. Her children would say that they had a wonderful childhood. She was a very artistic person who loved creating things, such as ceramics, dolls, paintings, afghans, quilting and more. She did beautiful work. Ruth spent most of her life in Evansville, with a brief time in Hernando, Fla., where she retired to be with her sisters after her husband's death. Several years ago, health issues brought her back to Evansville, where she lived in the care of her daughter and son-in-law until her death.

She is survived by her daughter, Lydia Hagedorn and her husband Jim, Sr. of Evansville; grandson, Jim Hagedorn, Jr. and his wife Angela of Evansville; great-grandsons, Kyle and Ryan; son; Brent Ellard and his wife Carol of Newburgh, Ind.; granddaughter, Kristle Logel and her companion Eric Berendsen of Evansville; great-grandson, Calib; son, Jesse Ellard, Jr. and his wife Holly of Evansville; grandson, Joshua Ellard and his wife Jamie of Newburgh, Ind.; great-grandson, Jakob; great-granddaughter, Sidney; granddaughter, Carly Werner and her husband Joel of Evansville; and her two sisters, Marilyn Bouk and Barbara Pranger and her husband Donald of Hernando, Fla.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Jesse Ellard, Sr. in 1985; her brother Pete Alvey; and her parents, Joseph and Lydia Alvey.

Private Graveside Services will be held at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery.

Boone Funeral Home — East Chapel, 5330 Washington Avenue, Evansville, IN will be handling the arrangements.

Memorial Contributions may be made to: Evansville Rescue Mission Food Bank, 300 SE Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd., Evansville, IN 47713.
