Boonville, IN

Ruth Kathleen McSwain Whisnant, 88, formerly of Shelby, NC died Monday, July 11, 2016 at ?St. Mary's Hospital in Evansville, IN.

Born August 20, 1927, in Cleveland County, NC, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Marvin Whisnant; her parents Willard Buren and Miller (Millie) McSwain; three brothers – Phate, Ernest, and Buren McSwain; and two sisters – Hester Lovelace and Lelabell Washburn.

Surviving are children Michael (Betty) of Easley, SC, Mitchell (Vickie) of Kingsport, TN, Patricia (Jim) Delano of Fort Worth, TX, Nathan (Tammy) of Henderson, KY, and Helen (Gene) Hall of the home; 10 grandchildren, David, Jonathan, Matthew, and Christopher Whisnant, Cassandra Edinger, Cara Roberson, Allen and Daniel Delano, Kathleen Stanley, and Elizabeth Fisher; 12 great-grandchildren, Brandon, Carson and Camden Whisnant, Emily Pewitt, Tyler Delano, Nikolas and Timothy Delano, Preston Miller, Madeline and Duke Edinger, and Angel and James West.

Cecil M Burton Funeral Home and Crematory, Shelby, NC handled the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to any of the following: Your Local Hospice organization; National Fibromyalgia Association, 857 Birch St., Suite 312, Newport Beach, CA 92660; Kingsport First Baptist Church, 200 W. Church Circle, Kingsport, TN 27660 or Airline Baptist Church, 1942 Clay Street, Henderson, KY 42420
