TELL CITY - Selma I. Lorenz, 95, passed away at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 23, 2006, at Oakwood Health Campus in Tell City.
Selma was born Sept. 8, 1911, in Spencer County, the daughter of the late Charles and Anna (Bauer) Huebschman. Selma married Edwin Lorenz in Tell City on April 22, 1930. Edwin passed away in 1979.
Also preceding her in death was a son, Ralph E. "Dude" Lorenz, and a brother, Werner Huebschman.
Selma was the Evanston postmaster for several years, and had worked at Das Dutchman in Evanston and Dauby's Department Store in Tell City. She was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 2939 Auxiliary, and the William Tell Senior Citizens, all in Tell City. She enjoyed traveling, playing euchre and making quilts, having made over 500 for charity.
She is survived by three daughters, Betty Ann Rogier, Tell City, Jeanne A. Fischer and her husband, Lee Roy, Tell City, Ind., and Debra K. Williams and her husband, Jerry, Richland, Ind.; a son, Richard Lorenz and his wife, Kathy, Newburgh, Ind.; three brothers, Harry Huebschman, Tell City, Ind., Robert Huebschman, Troy, Ind., and Clarence Huebschman, Troy, Ind.; three sisters, Mildred Mulzer, Rockport, Ind., Leona Kleaving, Tell City, Ind., and Marcella Slack, Dallas, Texas; 22 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2006, Huber Funeral Home, 1139 12th St., Tell City Chapel, with burial in Greenwood Cemetery in Tell City. Pastor Lynn Hanson will officiate. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. today and 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesday at Huber Funeral Home Tell City Chapel.
