McFee, Thelma C. "Daisie" Age 83, of Naperville died Monday evening, December 9, 2013 at Edward Hospital. Born June 27, 1930 in Detroit, Michigan to John J. and Thelma R. Campbell, she is survived by a brother, Martin Campbell of Sterling Heights, MI; Louis Richard Shirky whom she married in 1950; their four children, Mark, Carol Baxter, Karen and Paul (wife, Marie) (late wife, Judy); grandson, Justin (wife, Jayne); granddaughter, Alliana Kalisch (husband, Bryan); and great-grandchildren, Jamin and Gavin Shirky, and Daisy Kalisch. Daisie married Charles H. Peaslee in 1983, becoming part of his family with 3 adult children and their developing families, including grand and great-grandchildren. He passed on in 2002. In 2003, she married Donald R. McFee, still living, and has been a loving partner, adding the lives of his 3 children's families and grandchildren. She graduated high school in Detroit and attended Manchester College in Indiana. Daisie finished her degree in teaching from North Central College while raising her family. She taught school from 1965 until her retirement in 1989. During this time she earned her Master's Degree from Northern Illinois University. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, an international society for key women educators. Daisie began at Parkview Elementary School in Romeoville. She then moved to Wheaton Public Schools teaching, developing, and co-authoring curriculum approaches for special needs children that became standard. Much of her work was with the families and staff of the Lincoln School community. She was an active member of Community United Methodist Church of Naperville, serving as a Stephen minister and active in Disciple classes, the Community Forum Class, and a book group. Prior to the 1970's she was active in the Church of the Brethren. Daisie was a member of the YMCA Y's Men's club for many years, and active in fund raising for the local YMCA. She enjoyed her grandchildren, traveling, gardening, reading, and the arts. She pursued her artistic talents in drawing, painting, crafts and ceramics throughout her life attending classes until 2011. A memorial service will be held at the Community United Methodist Church (CUMC) in Naperville on January 4, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. A luncheon will follow.
