Bernard Klopfenstein Obituary

Bernard "Bernie" Francis Klopfenstein, 81, of Crestline passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, June 24, 2025. Bernie was born in Shelby on May 2, 1944, to the late Edmond and Irene (Metzger) Klopfenstein. He married Sandra "Sandy" (Garverick) Klopfenstein of Cardington on June 13, 1964, and she survives in Crestline. Bernie, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, spent his life dedicated to both his family and his career of over thirty years as a lineman with Ohio Edison, from which he proudly retired. Throughout his life, Bernie found joy in woodworking, creating beautiful pieces that showcased his craftsmanship and passion. He was a man of strong values, and his gentle spirit touched the lives of everyone who knew him. He had a funny and witty sense of humor. Bernie was a faithful member of the Praise Generation Church, and he enjoyed reading further into the scripture with his Kingdom Men Bible study. In addition to his wife Sandy, Bernie's memories will be cherished by his children: Leah (Robert) Belcher of Colonial Beach, Virginia, Veronica (Albert) Schick of Colonial Beach, Virginia, and John (Toni) Klopfenstein of Tampa, Florida; siblings: John (Marilyn) Klopfenstein of Shelby, Dave Klopfenstein of Columbus, Cathy (Wayne) Meals of Carlisle, Pennsylvania, Joe (Judy) Klopfenstein of Peacedale, Rhode Island, Tom (Sandy) Klopfenstein of Crestline, Zita (Mike) Miller of Crestline, and Dan (Patty) Klopfenstein of Mansfield; 4 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. A celebration of Bernie's life will take place on Friday, June 27, 2025 at 11:00am at the Praise Generation Church; 6480 Lower Leesville Rd. Crestline. Pastor Josh Cole will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made in Bernie's memory to anglingforrelief.org - an organization that serves pediatric cancer patients, and was founded by his grandson. I hada Mrs. Kiopfenstein as a teach in middle school about 40 years ago-- I'm wondering if this is a family member or (if someone knows this lady) I've always thought of her and my condolences to the family.
